Happy Happy Happy

What a super long weekend this turned out to be. We had Happy Easter, Happy Birthday Mom, and Happy we won our last hockey game all in one weekend.

Happy Easter
Friday was egg decorating at Kathy's where we got to see the whole family and eat lots of delicious food after carefully decorating our eggs. Let's not forget a bit of guitar hero too. Thanks everyone for all their effort in making that an extremely fun time!

Happy Hockey/Happy Birthday Mom
The Big Game - Well it was the big play off game against the Purple Penguins. The game started with the boys having their numbers and names announced over the PA system just like the professionals. They all skated out as their names were being called and stood on the blue line until everyone was announce. Within the first minute the Black Lightening scored their first goal and not long after that their second. We were up by three goals when the Purple Penguins finally managed to score. We got another and the Purple Penguins got two more. After the 2 fifteen minute periods were over the final score ended up being 6-3 for the Black Lightening team. They all played very well and have made such progress from our very first game.

Then it was time for the presentation of medals.

The boys were so proud that they made sure to show the medals to any and everyone. Way to go...we all can't wait until next year!

We all went out for a celebration dinner to Mom's favourite place, Montfort. It was a great day. Thanks guys!

Hockey Playoffs

Well it's hard to believe that the hockey season is almost at an end. This weekend was the playoff weekend where the teams had to play games on both Saturday and Sunday on the full ice. The first game was very exciting as the Black Lightening dominated the game with an 8-4 victory. They did it with only 8 players and were more than a little tired when it was all over.

Our neighbours Wally and Andreas came along to cheer the boys along too. They couldn't believe how strong the team was. That night we went to see Andreas play his game and got some tips from the older kids (Andreas is 9).

Sunday was very close for the first half of the game when goals went back and forth but strong defence won out in the end and the Black Lightening pulled through with another 6-4 win. Great job team! Can't wait to see how we do at the final tournament next weekend!

Another Great Game

Not nearly the nail biter it was the previous week. Thank goodness because neither Mom or Dad had much to work with after last weekend's game :-)
Spencer was in goal again and this week and they were playing the Purple Panthers. Spencer is sure he got a shut-out as he stopped the one goal right on the line...I think if you were to ask the Panthers, they think they got a least one goal in the 8-0 (or 8-1) game for Black Lightening. I don't think we would have done as well if it weren't for Leader Debbie & Thomas coming to cheer us on...thanks for all your encouragement!

Curtis tried his best but wasn't lucky enough to connect one of his shots in the net this week. He had a bunch of fun and was truly skating up a storm...even with some ballet looking moves at times.
Great game guys. It's almost over as next week is the beginning of determining the standing in the play-offs and the first time they have a game on the full ice. I think we have some tired players. Then the week of the 22nd is Tournament week and we are done just in time to go to Disney!!!

Hockey Heroes

It was a nail biting game for Mom & Dad this week. Spencer was in net as the team's goalie and Curtis was determined to follow-up this week with another goal. We were playing the red team which, in the past has outplayed us. We were very hopefully that all the extra practice on the rink in the back yard would help!

Curtis started off with a goal within the first few minutes of the start of the game and Spencer ferociously fought off the attacks of the Red Devil's. He played an awesome game only letting in two goals and the final score was 5-2 for the Black Lightening!

(The looks of the Red Devil's after the game)
The boys were flying high with their victory and were treated to a special lunch at MacDonald's for their super efforts. Way to go our little heroes!
