Curtis in Goal and Grandpa O's Birthday

Curtis was more than thrilled to have his turn at goal this week. We were optimistic when the equipment seemed to be about 4 sizes too big for him as he had such a positive attitude.

Can you see the grin on his face...
He started out OK...
But then it was fall after fall after fall & poor Curtis got a whole new appreciation for what a turtle goes through.
Coach was on constant watch to help him back up.
He did his best but part way through the game, he realized the equipment was hurting him and just too difficult so he packed it in. It wasn't all bad as the other team didn't have a goalie either so it kind of helped even things out. All in all I think they may have still won but no one knows for sure.
Then we were off to Mandarin to celebrate Grandpa O's Birthday with the family.
Here is Spencer enjoying what everyone comes to the Mandarin for...the lemons!
Is that Grandpa in amazement that they are bringing him more food...his Birthday dessert?!!Hope you had a great birthday Grandpa (even if Saskatchewan won the Grey Cup)!

Niagara-On-The-Lake

It was our annual trip to NOTL where we pick out our decoration for the year. The day started with the boys at hockey practice and then we met up at the truck stop with Steve, Sherry and baby Sarah; Natalie, Fe and birthday girl Brooklyn; Anne and Adams.

The kids each picked up a Webkin (Brooklyn a Reindeer-even though we all kept calling it a moose, Curtis got Climber the Koala Bear and Spencer got Coco the dog). They were valuable additions to our troop this year!

After we got all full up it was a convoy to the Christmas Store where we met up with Nancy and her mom, Jane. We all took our time finding just the right ornament.
Spencer chose a hockey playing beaver (symbolizing his year of hockey and being in Beavers), Curtis picked a guitar (for him to remember this is the year he got his guitar), and Mom & Dad picked 4 Christmas frogs on a lilly pad (for recognition that this certainly seemed like the year of frogging). We got our names and the year put on our decoration and they will be proudly displayed as soon as the tree goes up!

Then the kids led the way to all of our favourite stops...
...which included shopping for cool (and very cheap) glasses...
(yes, it was a dare)

Can you tell Curtis insisted on dressing himself this morning?!

After a very full afternoon of shopping we were off to the Spaceship for dinner & then home to bed. What a great day it was to see all of our friends we haven't seen in so long. Thanks for making this year an extra special one!

Santa Parade and sooo much more!

The Beaver Leaders were busy all week getting ready for the Santa Parade on Saturday. This year's parade theme was Christmas Through the Decades so the Beaver/Scout Float showcased the different badges and history of the organization through the decades.

Saturday morning was a little chilly but we all came bundled up and sporting our Beaver blankets. Even Mom got to take part...she was the cheerleader for the boys waving and wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. She practically lost her voice by the end of it so we are hoping the judges of the parade appreciated the boys great effort!

After a little warm up and recovery from the parade we were off to Little Goober's Playland for Thomas' Birthday Party.

At one point Locke tried to take on Curtis...

...but then Curtis notices Locke's hat...

...and we think Curtis won that one!

Our little goobers were all tuckered out by the end of this day!

Sunday was game day with Spencer in goal. He hadn't had a chance to practise quite as much as he would have liked but we have to say he and his team did an amazing job. He got the team's first shut out and they won 4-0! Curtis can't wait to take his turn in goal next week!!!

It's hard to believe another weekend is over...it feels like we just started!

Remembrance Day

Another very busy weekend. The boys were involved in hockey practice again on Saturday...thankfully it was an 8:00 am start this week. Then Dad & the boys went out to the trailer to make sure it survived the wind & rain storm okay. Everything was great. Mom went out for lunch with Nancy (Joan missed us) & got all caught up on her latest adventures.

Sunday was go, go, go! It started with a Remembrance Day ceremony at the River Oaks Memorial with some of the other Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.
The boys even got to shake the hand of a real war veteran and say thank you to him.

Then it was off to our hockey game. We finally won one...score was 4-3 for the Black Lightening team and they were very excited.

After the game we raced of to get our X-mas pictures taken & just when we thought it was time to kick back & relax, the boys found Andreas next door & he brought over his goalie gear...

(Like the skeleton crowd cheering the boys on?!)Talk about having too much fun!
Can't believe the weekend is over & it's back to work tomorrow :-(

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

It's been a very spooky week. It started with Beavers Halloween Party on Monday...
Pirate Curtis & Devil Spencer...
...did crafts and...
...a movie. There were even some yummy Halloween treats!

Halloween Day started with Curtis as Darth Vader for his school parade and Spencer dressing in his black and orange Spiderman shirt. It was a day full of crafts and parties too.

That night our yard transformed into...

And we transformed too! Witch Mom

Pirate Larkin

Dracula Connor

Edikin Skywalker Spencer

Harry Potter Aiden & Rock Star Curtis

and Princess Siobhan

We had The Campbell family, and their friends from Toronto, The Sherren Family and The Warren Family all out trick or treating together. When they got back there were snacks & lots of tales of great ghostly haunts and trick or treating adventures. It was a bunch of fun and a late night for all. Needless to say the boys were sleepy and slightly possessed when getting up the next morning, but really looking forward to getting into their treat bags and doing it all again next year! Thanks for everyone making this a Spooktacular Halloween!!!
