Family Fun!

Another successful camping weekend. We made way to the “cottage” late Friday night with the Ellingham golf cart delivery. It was up early Saturday to go scope out some yard sales. Curtis was on a mission to find a bigger bike and we hit pay dirt when we found “The Green Goblin”. What a steal at only $1.00. Good thing because Curtis wasn’t going to pay more than $20. What a bargain hunger, just like his Dad. There were some other treasures found too that were enjoyed all weekend long.

Some more time at the beach, of course, and hanging with Uncle Steve, Aunt Sherry, Baby Sarah. Mom managed to get the rest of her flowers planted & Dad was steadily working on the patio for the new shed. We also had the honour of touring Uncle Steve’s mom, Sylvia, around the campground. She had a sleep over with Baby Sarah but was up and gone before some of us even woke up the next morning…hope it wasn’t anything we said :-)

Saturday night we went to Family Fun Night where there were all sorts of games for everyone to play. We played sack toss, special bacci ball, musical hoops & spike drive. Spencer & Curtis both won prizes for the special bacci ball and Spencer was very close in both the sack toss and the musical hoops. Daddy’s team was victorious against Uncle Steve’s team in the spike drive (shhhh…don’t tell anyone but Uncle Steve’s team could have won if he had hit the spike…even once ;-} )

Sunday morning was off fishing for the boys. Unfortunately nothing was biting because the really cool rocket launching fishing rods were a big time bust. Oh well, maybe next time with the right rod. We gotta be ready for the fishing derby coming up!

Of course, we couldn’t forget baseball. As always, the boys were instrumental in team success!

It got really hot and muggy so the balance of the day was finding some shade, then the water guns, golf cart cruising/drag racing to try to create a breeze, then landing at the beach for some cool & refreshing jumping and dunking.

Before we knew it the weekend was over & it was time to shower & get back on the road. We all are really looking forward to the extra long weekend next weekend!!!

BUZZZZZZZ

You can tell summer is here and we've had a bit of a hot spell. The boys got their first ever 'buzz cut' to help with the heat. Don't they look "cool"?

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

What a great weekend once again! The weather was great...a little warm but better than rain any day.

We started with 'soccer-baseball' on Saturday morning. The basic concept was to kick the ball instead of hit it with a bat and then run the bases like you would in baseball. The boys did great for their first time although Curtis sometimes got confused if he should be picking up the ball or running. Oh well...less likely to get out when you take the ball to home plate with you.

Then it was off to the beach to cool down. The sand pile and the noodles were super fun. The boys even got to go in the deeper water with Daddy. What a treat that was.

Spencer and Curtis hung out with the Sherren family while mom & dad finished off the flower beds. If it weren't for Gary helping Daddy digging them out we might still be there...thanks Gary! It's looking great and our tree is watching over it all.

Our friendly toad even came by to inspect the final touches. We got the 'hop of approval' when our toad went down the stairs and into the flower bed.

Saturday night we had a yummy steak dinner with the Sherren's and met some new neighbour kids - Aaron and Sasha. After playing on the quad, they joined us for our camp fire and some roasted marshmallows.

On Sunday the boys surprised Keith with pictures they had painted at school of Dad with little sayings on them.

Curtis' sayings were...

  • My Dad's favourite food is ham
  • My Dad works at (I'm not sure) where he helps people
  • My Dad's favourite TV show is Coronation Street
  • Just for fun my Dad likes to play with me
  • My Dad's name is Rod (oops...wrong tag...really Daddy O/Keith)
  • Not too many people know this but my Dad plays basketball (hmmm...does daddy know)
  • I love my Dad because he plays soccer with me

Spencer's sayings were...
  • My Dad's favourite food is cream cheese
  • My Dad works at Toronto where he helps people fix computers
  • My Dad's favourite TV show is the news
  • Just for fun my dad likes to mow the lawn
  • My Dad's name is Keith but some people call him Oliphant
  • Not too many people know this by my Dad has a secret code to open the garage
  • I love my Dad because he hangs out with me
We also surprised him with a fishing tool. It weighs, it measures, it scales, it does it all but catch the fish (hint hint dad...time to go fishing)!

Then it was off to baseball and Daddy came to watch. This week was a very close game...21-20 and the boys were awesome with their hitting and scoring. Way to go guys and the slushies from the store hit the spot from the big thirst that had been well earned!

Sunday afternoon we had Grandpa, Uncle Al, Aunt Becky, Matt and Aaron come for our Father's Day celebrations. Daddy and the boys took everyone on a tour of the campground and got Aunt Becky, Matt and Aaron to spend some time at the playground. We had a bbq and some good laughs. It was great to see everyone again. We will certainly have to do that again now that everyone knows their way.

We finished off by watching a hot air balloon take off from the ball diamond. We got to see it get blown up and take off. It looked like amazing fun and we tried tracking it as far as we could on the way home.

We hope you had an awesome Father's Day weekend Daddy. We sure did.

Happy Father's Day Daddy O!

PHEW...are we tired!

What a weekend! We picked up our new vehicle on Friday & 'ESCAPED' to the "cottage". The sun roof is so much fun and we cranked up some good old rock and roll. Spencer & Curtis were phat on guitar and air drums...ROCK ON!

Once we got there, we watched a movie, played a bit with Thomas & William, & then finally made it to bed (around 10:30 pm).

It was a really early start on Saturday as Daddy wanted to finish the final touches on our new deck. It looks awesome Dad and Helper Curtis...thanks for all the extra space!

We grabbed the wagon filled with water toys & spent a few hours at the beach. The new waterslide was great entertainment for everyone. We got some bike riding, playground, games & meeting new friends squished into this day too!

Oh & let's not forget our nature hunting. We tried to catch frogs and fish at the beach and the pond...

...spotted all sorts of birds, chipmunks and squirrels...

...and saw our camp site toad again. I think he was inspecting Daddy's handy work on the new deck - union rules you know!

Saturday was a very early night to bed though. ALL the guys were completely worn out!

It's a hit...RRRUUUUNNNN!

Safe on 3rd. Thanks little brother!

Sunday was another picture perfect day for weather. Spencer & Curtis were super baseball stars and then we raced off to Uncle Steve & Aunt Sherry's for Sarah's first birthday party. While here, the boys got into some soccer & frisbee games which made walking afterward a little tough...or was it all the yummy food & cake?!
We certainly had a weekend packed to the brim with fun and that had us all yawning on the ride home. Hard to believe it's Monday already.

We get to ESCAPE!

We finally managed to flog the old Silhouette & have replaced it with a 2007 Ford Escape. A complete 180 from what we thought we were interested in but reviews seem to be really good and Ford was willing to give us fair value for the van so a deal was made. The boys are excited to have the sun roof...don't think they've noticed there's no dvd player but I'm sure that will come up on the way to the campground this weekend. No doubt it won't take daddy long to rig something with the portable one ;-)
